Adams Gardens Wholesale Nursery has been owned and operated by the Winters family since 1979. The palm tree fields and green houses are located in Harlingen, Texas, the most southern area of the state known as the Rio Grande Valley, where the climate is ideal for plant growth and the soil rich in nutrients. Spread out over 70 acres of land, the nursery began as a business specializing in small container plants and shrubbery. As Adams Gardens continued to evolve and acquire more land, operations were soon expanded to include tropical, desert, and high elevation palm trees which is now their specialty. Adams Gardens Wholesale Nursery was the first to introduce locally the method of stretch wrapping the balled and burlapped palm trees, a technical innovation that preserves moisture and reduces stress on the plants while they are being transported.
